The De Santos Gallery is committed to photography and its advancement as a distinct 20th and 21st century form of art and to this extent, the gallery will organize lectures by critics, collectors and photographers themselves on a regular basis. The De Santos Gallery accepts photographric portfolios for review. Portfolios will be returned only if the artist makes arrangements for this with the gallery.
The De Santos Gallery proud of our Houston roots and consists of three open floors. The second floor is reserved for Lads Photography and other well-respected photographers. De Santos Gallery provides innovative ideas about photography, while maintaining an outstanding reputation for integrity and customer satisfaction. The gallery is owned and directed by Luis and Gemma DeSantos, natives of Spain and long-time residents of Houston.
De Santos Gallery specializes in fine art photography. The De Santos Gallery represents artists and also carries both American and International with particular interest in Spanish photographers. We are particularly interested in helping photography collectors develop a foundation upon which to build an evolving quality photography collection.
The De Santos Gallery opened its doors in its current location in 2003 in a newly constructed stucco and glass building designed by architect Fernando Brave located in a rapidly evolving artistic area next to the Menil Museum and the University of St. Thomas and near the Houston Museum District. The De Santos Gallery is composed of a main show room at street level and a second level which is home to fine art photography studio belonging to LADS Photography.
Photographs and materials are chosen solely on the basis of the owner’s vision of photography as a unique art form of the modern times and not because of trendy currents that are self-limited. The De Santos Gallery is committed as much to the classics as well as contemporary and emerging photographer's world wide with very diverse artistic expression in photographic media.
The De Santos Gallery also provides photographic art consulting services to both individuals and businesses. The De Santos Gallery has a strong knowledge in regards to making the right decisions regarding photography purchases and placement.
The De Santos Gallery represents artists but also shows work on consignment. The gallery's inventory is eclectic, varied, international, and evolving.
The De Santos Gallery specializes in photography (including traditional and new media) from contemporary European and Asian photographers including Anna Halm-Schudel, Roman Loranc, Sang-Nam Park, and Kimiko Yoshida. The gallery also has work available by North American and Latin American artists: Clyde Butcher, Linda Butler, and Edgar Moreno among others.
