It is our goal to fully meet the high quality criteria for a National Early Childhood Accreditation for each of our programs.
Mission:
The Children’s Courtyard is committed to providing young children and their families high quality early childhood educational experiences and care in a home-like setting. Our purpose is to provide children with the tools they will need to succeed during the school years and throughout life.
We recognize that parents are a critical part of the teaching team. We take great care in gathering data from parents about their child’s temperament, schedule and preferences. This information, along with the teacher’s observations of each child is used to develop meaningful learning experiences within a predictable daily routine.
We believe our teachers need to know and understand how children grow and learn. We hire qualified teachers, and train them thoroughly in our educational approach before they assume the responsibility of teaching. We continue to facilitate professional growth by careful and constant supervision, on-going training, and regular evaluation. Our management team has a balanced understanding of child development, customer service, and sound business principle. This combination of skills insures the long-term success of our organization and successful delivery of our services.
Approach to learning:
Our curriculum has been developed based on the latest research on how children learn. Since kids learn better when they’re having fun, we try to design flexible lesson plans that are active, stimulating and interesting to children on their own levels.
We partnered with Addison-Wesley, Scholastic and McGraw-Hill, and chose what we believe are the best practices from each. We take into account individual personalities and abilities, so they learn without frustration or fear of failure. And we use assessment tools on a regular basis to make sure that we build relevant, purposeful activities to help develop the skills they will need in school and beyond.
Our Teachers
A better learning experience starts with a better teacher, and that’s what you’ll find at The Children’s Courtyard. Our highly qualified teachers are given extensive training in our own unique “Lab Schools”, given hands-on training in the classroom, and mentored by Master Teachers as they progress. We also support them with continuing education, ongoing assessments, and training opportunities. This way, we can consistently deliver high quality education from school to school, and classroom to classroom.
Lab Schools
The Children’s Courtyard’s Lab Schools are unique in the industry. They are run much like a child development laboratory in a University setting. Master Teachers at each age level train and mentor new teachers to replicate best practices in our other locations.
A trainee’s length of time in Lab School varies, but we require that all our teachers have more than the state recommended hours of professional development training. In this way, we can be sure that every classroom at every school has a highly trained, committed professional in charge.
