We teach our students to be good citizens, and we believe that the development of character traits and good leadership qualities is an important part of education. Curriculum: San Antonio Academy's curriculum provides a strong foundation of academic skills. Students study reading, language arts, social studies, math, science, and foreign languages. Fine arts, music, computer science, library/research skills and physical education broaden their perspective. Detailed online progress reports every three weeks keep parents apprised of each student's progress. In all grade levels teachers strive to develop higher levels of thinking among their students. Their objectives include creating enthusiasm for the subject matter, teaching creative and inspiring classes and helping children to develop a positive self-image by emphasizing each boy's positive accomplishments and achievements. After School Activities When classes end in the afternoon, a new action-packed day begins as older and younger guys alike work in the computer lab, head toward the music building, study in the library, participate on one of the many athletic teams, play intramural basketball, learn strategy in chess class, expand their horizons with the Young Astronauts or attend tutorials and enrichment classes. The Academy provides a wide array of afterschool activities for its students because these activities give our boys another opportunity to grow and learn. Afterschool activities foster self-confidence as the participants master new skills and learn how to be a part of a team. We want students to develop a positive self-image and attitude toward physical fitness and sports, and we encourage them to participate to the best of their ability. Various activities are offered so that each student will find at least one sport he will enjoy. Over 90% of the student body plays on one or more of the 35 sports teams, including lacrosse, soccer, basketball, cross-country, tennis and golf.
