Dana’s Dance Academy is situated in the heart of the historic downtown Heritage Park Area. The basic philosophy of Dana’s Dance Academy is that proper training is of lasting value. The Academy emphasizes proper training, which is also the policy of all serious dance academies. Although not all students will pursue professional dance careers, proper training is a lasting value in excellence that will carry over into all other avenues of their lives. Classes are offered (beginner through advanced and adult) in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, drill team, hip-hop, gymnastics/cheerleading and creative movement for 2 year olds. It has ballroom & salsa dance instruction, belly dancing and one of Dana’s former teachers, Gloria Whetstone instructs adult tap. Registration for each session is $27.00 per student. DDA Fall/Spring hours are: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 4:30-7:30pm and Saturday 9:30-11:30am. The Fall/Spring session runs from August through June. Summer Dance Classes run during July. Class space will be reserved when the registration fee is received. Students are responsible for full month’s tuition. Regular attendance is essential for proper dance development. There are no refunds for missed lessons or holidays. You may make up a missed class, within the current monthly pay period by attending another class suitable for you. Appearance Attire: All students must be appropriately dressed and ready to begin class on time. Clothing can be purchased at Toys R Us, Target, Wal-Mart, Capezio in Dallas, Danceapalooza in Irving on Irving Blvd., The Dance Wear Shop in Grapevine Mills & Payless Shoes. Dancers: Girls – leotards and tights. Boys – plain “T” shirt tucked into dance pants or dance shorts Gymnasts: Girls – leotards and bare legs. Boys – plain “T” shirt and stretch shorts All ballet students 8 years old & above: You may wear a solid color leotard, any style, & light pink, matte finish tights. Skirts may be worn. Dance sweaters may be worn during warm-up and/or barre. NO recital costumes are allowed and girls may not wear “T” shirts in class. All students must wear cover up garments to and from the Academy. Hair: Should be tied securely away from face (ballet students should have hair in a bun). No big jewelry, no chewing gum or food or drinks are allowed in the classroom. Shoes: Ballet and Creative Movement: Teacher in class will cut ties on ballet shoes Girls – pink ballet slippers with elastic Boys – black ballet slippers with elastic Jazz: Girls – shoes or boots and color are at the discretion of each teacher. Boys – black jazz oxford or boots Tap: Black: tap heels by teacher recommendation. The teacher in class will replace ties with elastic. Gymnastics: barefoot or acrobatic shoe.
