Dianne Cole Johnson School of Dance
Our Mission is to encourage and build self confidence, self esteem, artistic expression as well as instill poise and grace. We offer programs for students interested in dance at all levels, from recreational to professional with an equal emphasis on the joy and discipline of dance.
Dianne Cole Johnson is owner and director of Dianne Cole Johnson School of Dance. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance Performance from the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University.  Dianne has trained with Martha Graham, Luigi, Alvin Ailey, Arthur Mitchell, Karen Kriete of Harkness Ballet, Nikita Talin of Ballet Rusee de Monte Carlo, Toni Beck and others.  The school was opened in 1976 upon graduation from SMU and  Ms. Johnson then founded the school’s non profit ballet company, Repertory Dance Theatre of Texas, in 1985.  She is also the director and choreographer for the National Award winning competition team, The Divas.
While focusing on traditional ballet technique, DCJ offers a full line of dance classes for every individual at every level. Classical Ballet and Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Pilates, Creative Movement, Tumbling and special classes focusing on specific aspects of dance round out the full line of curriculum.
For more in depth instruction, DCJ offers the Repertory Dance Theatre of Texas (RDTT).  RDTT is a non-profit performing company offering the more serious dancer age 13-adult, the opportunity to perform in more professional venues.  In addition, RDTT offers a Junior & Apprentice company for dancers ages 8-14. RDTT is governed by a board and supported by an organized guild and is a member of The Dance Council.RTTD’s main purpose is to provide an outlet for the serious dancer to gain a more extensive performing experience in a professional atmosphere. Company members participate with aspirations for a professional career, or just for fun. It is our desire to entertain and at the same time offer a deeper understanding of dance and the dancers’ intense physical and mental commitment to the art.
Studio Performances. DCJ proudly presents our annual studio performances June 7th & 8th.  Admission is free and performances are held at the University of North Texas campus, Auditorium Building. Our Performing Companies are designed for those students who love to perform and entertain as well as display a willingness to work hard.  The Diva's Competition Teams and RDTT may be the place for you.   Auditions for both The Diva's & RDTT are held in the summer.
Every dancer's body is different and it is the teacher's responsibility not only to develop the dancer's special attributes, but also to make them aware of their limitations.  DCJ believes in developing qualities every child needs to succeed and placing them on the right track for success by emphasizing discipline, focus and self confidence.
