The Musicology LLC idea was developed by a few local San Antonio Professional Musicians. The idea was simple: create an atmosphere where young musicians and adults could learn music from real musicians and teachers. This idea was implemented and put forth by 22 year music industry veteran, Julian Escobedo.
Most of our teachers are working professional musicians.
Private lessons are offered at various rates and time schedules ranging from 30 minutes to one hour. These lessons provide one on one instruction with the teacher and offer the most value to the students learning process.
You receive four lessons in a month with a monthly rate, one a week. If there is a fifth week, these are used for the teachers to have make-up days. We understand that things can come up that may cause you to miss a lesson. All we ask is to try and give us a notice. Our teachers are asked to provide you with a make-up lesson, this is totally at the teachers discretion, as our teachers time is valuable.
Group lessons (5-8 Students) are offered at a more affordable cost in 45 minute sessions and can be the ideal situation for those who want to try out the instrument first. These lessons offer a semi private lesson in a classroom setting and are perfect for those who are not quite ready to commit to a one on one private lesson. Classes are available for certain instruments only.
In most cases, your teacher will instruct you on what to bring. If it is your first lesson, you should bring your instrument and its peripherals, any material you have been working on, a pencil (to make notes) and your eagerness to learn.
The Musicology LLC will have seasonal recitals for the students. This helps the student overcome the nervousness of performing in front of others. This is also a great opportunity for parents and family members to see their students progress in music.
We encourage all students under the age of 18 to participate, it is a great way to apply what you have learned and gives your parents/guardians the chance to see you shine. It is, however, optional.
All teachers are required to give you or your parents/guardians evaluations of your progress. This may be either verbal or written evaluations on what has been worked on or needs improvement.
