Armstrong Community Music School is a vital part of Austin Lyric Opera, with music lessons representing a range of styles and a multitude of word cultures. The school’s programs include music instruction, opera education for adults and youth, and community outreach programs for at-risk youth.
All of these programs provide great social, educational and volunteer activities that are guaranteed to meet your needs. They are a great way to support opera and to get involved.
It was established in April 2000 and offers a wealth of diverse instruction to students of all ages and skill levels. The School, the first ever to be inaugurated by an opera company, and one of the first community music schools in Texas, offers instruction in classical, jazz, as well as blues, folk and a variety of musical styles from world cultures.
Austin Lyric Opera is committed to making opera an accessible and engaging art form. We offer programs for people new to opera and also for long time opera fans.
