Welcome to Transvision Eye Care

Dr. Huey Tran received his degree as a Doctor of Optometry from the School of Optometry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Previously, he attended Virginia Tech for his undergraduate work. Before opening TransVision Eye Care, Dr. Tran received his optometric training at Trussville Vision Care, Tuscaloosa Veteran Administration Hospital and UABSO Eye Care. He now specializes in the treatments of eye disease and vision disorders with emphasis on glaucoma, low vision and dry eyes. Dr. Tran also enjoys fitting multi-focal contact lenses and computer vision for patients over the age of 40.

During your comprehensive exam, Dr. Tran will not only evaluate the quality of your vision, but also the health of the whole eye. A comprehensive eye exam can provide early detection of other health problems including glaucoma, diabetes, vascular diseases and many others.

Professionally, Dr. Tran maintains membership in the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association. He also participates in the InfantSEE program, which provides free comprehensive eye exams for infants.
Our comprehensive exam includes:
Refraction exam:
determines your eyeglass prescription
Eye health check:
we'll examine the eyelids, eyelashes and the anterior portion of your eye, including the conjunctiva, cornea and iris.
Glaucoma check:
we will measure the internal pressure of your eye using state of the art instruments. This is just one of the tests that will determine if you have glaucoma.
Check for eye damage:
This involves the use of eye drops that will dilate your pupils. While these drops do not hurt, they can create blurred close vision for reading as well as a greater sensitivity to bright light. Both of these side effects will last for 3 to 6 hours (depending on your sensitivity to the medication and your eye color). You should remember to bring your own sunglasses but if you forget, we'll gladly supply you with a disposable pair for you to wear home.
Check peripheral vision:
This will test your peripheral (or side) vision. Dr. Tran will see if you have any early warnings for diseases.
