Texas Nameplate Company manufactures metallic and non-metallic plates, labels, identification tags, personalized name tags, custom name plates that are tough enough to withstand the environmental or application stress that your products must endure. Whether it's sand abrasion, salt water, extreme heat or cold, chemical contact, or outdoor wear and tear, we are the expert source for industrial name plates that last.
Texas Nameplate is known as the expert in "harsh-enviroment" metallic nameplates for products that operate in rugged locations or under extreme conditions.
Our Employees
TNC employees represent the diversity of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. A non-unionized company, we are a closely knit organization of 40+ employees. We encourage excellent internal communications and a strong sense of personal ownership in the processes and quality outcome of our products. In fact, our employees have embraced the quality and technology improvements that have made Texas Nameplate a Baldrige award winner and the recipient of top customer satisfaction marks.
Texas Nameplate remains a customer-oriented, family-owned business. The company is committed to performance excellence in order to provide products that meet all established requirements and exceeds the expectations of its customers.
Texas Nameplate offers etched products in stainless steel, brass and aluminum for numerous applications that require durability and long life.
Screen printing involves applying a photographic stencil to a piece of porous, tightly stretched polyester through which enamel colors are forced. Areas of the screen are blocked off with a non-permeable material - a stencil - which is a negative of the image to be printed; that is, the open spaces are where the ink will appear. Texas Nameplate offers screen printed nameplates and products in metallic and non-metallic materials that are economical for normal indoor use.
Our History
World War II brought a demand for military defense equipment such as tanks, trucks, airplanes, boats, artillery, and other heavy equipment. All of these items required identification and information plates that would withstand adverse conditions on land, sea, and in the air. The need for a manufacturer of durable metal nameplates was born when a photo engraving company was recruited by the War Department to produce etched metal nameplates for the many companies involved in the war effort.
In 1946 after the war was over, Wallace Steineger, Tom Hampton, and Roy Crownover chartered and began operations of Texas Nameplate Company, Inc. The company has grown from those three employees to over 100 in the 1980s.
Photosensitive Process
The photosensitive process is used to produce anodized nameplates by exposing a photo resist coated plate to light through a film negative. The resist is selectively removed and the base metals etched to produce the copy. Known for their extreme accuracy and quick turnaround time, anodized plates are commonly used in military applications.
Using the photosensitive process, Texas Nameplate offers several products that meet stringent defense and government requirements.
Chemically etched nameplates are manufactured by masking certain areas of metal with an acid resistant material. This allows the unmasked area to be dissolved away with acid, resulting in the masked areas remaining in relief.
MetalPhoto
MetalPhoto nameplates are produced by exposing aluminum impregnated with a silver compound to light through a film negative. Photographic images are inlaid and sealed into the anodic layer of aluminum. Metalphoto offers the dual advantages of durability and legibility.
Texas Nameplate uses MetalPhoto for specialized applications that demand longevity and quality imaging.
